Full-grain leather, solid hardware and the hours it takes to put them together cost more than £200 to make and sell, before a retailer takes its cut. A bag sold as full-grain at a fraction of that price is very likely lying about the leather.
What Does Exist Under £200
Small leather goods are a different story. Cardholders, wash bags and slim wallets from the same makers come in under £200, because they use a fraction of the leather and labour.
Carl Friedrik’s Hatton Cardholder, at £95, is in the same vegetable-tanned vachetta leather used across their bag range. It’s the clearest way to own a piece of a well-made brand without the bag-sized price tag.
Chapman’s leather card holder, at £90, is the same British-made construction as their bags, scaled down.

If You Need a Bag, Not an Accessory
If it has to be a full bag and £200 is a hard ceiling, save toward the £440 Chapman Minimalist, look at canvas with leather trim instead of full leather (cheaper material, still natural), or shop outside the brands I cover, in mass-manufactured territory where quality is much harder to check.
What I’d Do on £200
